Cheerful European Bouquet and Centerpiece

Arm spray bridal bouquet

Associated with sunshine, optimism, energy, happiness and peace, yellow is a great color to be used as bridal flowers. The cheerful colors is totally appropriate for a fall wedding, especially if you can find a dark yellow mixed with a bit of red. Arm spray bouquets are very popular in Europe, compared to the US where the tradition is more toward round (nosegay, dome and Posy) shapes. Arm spray as well as cascade bouquets are not only very elegant, but they also tend to elongated the overall figure of the bride, which is always nice and appreciated on such an important day.

This month, I have created a stunning arm spray bouquet in yellow and green. Because of their elongated shapes, tulips and callas provide the perfect backbone to such design. Since they come in many different colors, this bouquet can easily be translated in a multitude of color palette. What makes this week creation interesting lies not only in the bright color used, but also in the unusual texture of the Dianthus barbatus Green Trick "Temarisou", also known as a Green Trick Carnation. Since its recent introduction in the floral market, this engineered carnation version is becoming more and more popular among high-end floral designers.

Arm spray bridal bouquet
This hand tied bouquet is designed by grouping similar form flowers.

The centerpiece was designed in a fishbowl. This unusual vessel allows for original creations and works very well with line flowers such as tulips and callas. Through a careful manipulation, it is possible to bend these flowers* inside the fishbowl and place more stems at different level above the rim of the container. Since tulips have a mind of their own, they will move, open and close during the day, giving this arrangement a very organic, quasi vegetative look. The base is composed of a small brick of foam wrapped in a Ti leaf and covered with the Green Trick carnation and some moss.
*The flowers will be easier to work with if you leave them out of water for a couple of hours before starting your design.
