Contemporary Loofah Centerpiece - Take II

Contemporary Loofah Centerpiece - Take II

A couple of weeks ago, I presented a contemporary design concept using loofahs. This week I decided to play with it again, adding more texture thanks to the use of Angora yarn. I also choose three types of flower that have very distinctive form and texture: Pincushion protea, Craspedia (Billy Buttons), and Salix (Pussy Willow). I think the result is really stunning with its clean lines and unusual appeal.

{Thank you again to the great Pim van den Akker, master florist in Netherlands, who greatly inspired this design. - This design has been nominated as a top 10 designs by the professional magazine Flowers& on their 28th Annual Design Contest. The theme was texture - Touch me, Feel me}

White and trendy anemones

White and Trendy Anemone arrangement - Happy Weekend!

White is a very modern and trendy color. Associated with purity, it also symbolizes the winter season. Anemones on the other hand, are elegant, romantic but also have an hedgy side. The meaning of Anemones comes from the Greek word “anemos,” meaning wind which explains why they are commonly referred as the Windflower. It is not hard to imagine them with their petals dancing in the wind.

Because of their beautiful figures, anemones perform better when they have a lot of space around them {called negative space in design}. This is what I had in mind when designing these arrangements... Let these beautiful blooms be the star and dazzle our mind.

Contemporary Loofah Centerpiece - Take I

Contemporary Loofah Centerpiece

A contemporary centerpiece using Loofah and glass tubes. This, I think, is a nice play on textures and lines. The elegant Iceland poppies are given all the space they need to dance in between the soft Pussy willow branches, while the rough loofah is anchoring the composition. This design can take any shape, depending on where it will be assigned. A repetition of single design will also look great on a long table, amplifying the line element.

The beauty of simplicity

Happy Monday - The Beauty of Simplicity

Flowers are such a source of inspiration for me. Just a loose bouquet of flowers in a vase makes my heart sings. The simple things are sometimes the most beautiful... I just wanted to share simple design made of water tube, wire and yearn. I like to group them at different heights, but just a single one with a gorgeous bloom will be stunning too.

I wish you all a beautiful month of January ...
